Bad Design!!!!

I don't know about you guys but one thing that absolutely grates me is how EVERY. SINGLE. SMALL TOWN AND CITY in Canada looks the same. I was in Carleton Place the other day and it looks just like Parry Sound, the outskirts of Oshawa, Pickering, Ajax, Brockville, Ganonoque, and any other town with a population over 10,000. Good god! It actually pisses me off to see the exact same buildings going up in every town. There is this developer group called SmartCentres that does a lot of these. They are responsible for those terribly designed big box stores that pop up everywhere.
Ok, I take back what I said about Parry Sound. THey have a really nice downtown from what I saw. Note to towns: keep up your downtown. It keeps the suburbs down. Tru fax.
It grosses me out that everything is the same. The designs aren't even interesting! They are probably cheap to build and bring in a ton of money. They are so inconvenient too! You have to drive to the other side of town(unless you live in the suburbs right next door, which btw are just as bad) and then you have to drive from store to store because that's how they want it to be. Aah! I just don't get the appeal.
Same goes for suburbs. What is the appeal of living in a neighbourhood of ugly identical houses. Seriously! They don't even try to be interesting. I won't rant on about the detrimental environmental and social effects of tract housing/suburbs but it really bothers me. You won't ever see me buying one of those houses.
Seeing all of that shit everywhere I go makes me appreciate the fact that I live in the country and in a town where the local council is made up of stubborn old people who don't want these kinds of things. Even they need to watch out, because the land can only sustain so many houses and if many more go up people are going to be faces water shortages, especially us living on well water.
Don't even get me started on stucco and non-native architecture. D:< I'm too tired right now to ran thoroughly.
BTW I totally love these: [link] A former boss of mine and her partner built a two floor cabin that is probaby no bigger than the smallest of these houses. They didn't have electricity and they set up a tent if they had guests.

Back in Georgia, the houses were REALLY nice. Especially near my old school (the rich area). They were houses that weren't burnt down from the early 90's with kinda like mansion designs .
I want to travel out west and see how the little villages change from province to province. There is a huge difference between Southern and Northern Ontario so I hoping by that logic the towns change as I go further west.. The small cities and big towns all unfortunately kind of look the same. :/
I don't travel much outside of Ontario. Maybe Montreal if I'm lucky.
